Post Traumatic Stress Disorder is not a life sentence. Many who suffer from PTSD struggle to return to their daily lives, grappling with hopeless feelings, anxiety, shame, and fear. There is a way out. Our comprehensive Traumatic Stress Recovery Program will help you manage and relieve the symptoms of complex PTSD.
Our program is offered to the general population, first responders, veterans, nurses, correctional officers, security guards, border security officers, or to any individuals who may suffer from occupational stress injury (OSI). First responders and veterans would be placed in a cohort of individuals from a similar background.
If you or a loved one suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder or trauma-related symptoms caused by injury, combat exposure, violent crimes or sexual assault, occupational stress, or any other traumatic incident, with symptoms including:
- Depression and anxiety
- Shame and guilt
- Intrusive thoughts and memories of a traumatic event
- Flashbacks and nightmares
- Insomnia or difficulty relaxing
- Irritability and negativity

Traumatic Stress Recovery Program Schedule
Week 1 and 2
Learning New Skills
The Traumatic Stress Recovery Program opens with two weeks of intensive treatment and support. While attending the program, you will share a residence with the other participants. This residential component of the program will provide a network of peer support and an opportunity for group counselling and activities. Our highly trained staff will coach you and the other participants on healthy coping and relaxation techniques. This phase of the program includes:
- Group therapy
- Individual therapy
- Guided meditation
- Biofeedback therapy
- Art therapy
- Exposure therapy
- and other treatment methods.
This structured program will provide you with a variety of new skills and tools to regulate negative emotions and cope with stressors in a healthy way.
After two weeks in Kelowna, you will return home for one week. This is time for you to practice your skills and spend time with loved ones. Our clinicians will be meeting with you during this week via telephone or video conference. At the end of the week, you’ll return to Kelowna for the second phase of the Traumatic Stress Recovery Program.

Week 4 and 5
Building and Reinforcement of Skills
When you return to Kelowna, you’ll continue with the next part of the Traumatic Stress Recovery Program at the clinic and the shared residence. This phase of the program will build upon the skills and tools learned in the first two weeks of the program. You will continue your healing and recovery along side your group members through household tasks and activities while attending one-on-one and group therapy sessions. This will help reinforce healthy behaviours and provide a safe space to share your experience and develop coping skills.
Week 6 to 11
After you finish the 5 weeks at the clinic and residence, you will return home to continue with your treatment for an additional 6 weeks. Your designated clinician from the program will stay in touch, via phone call or video call, to support and assist you in reaching your established goals. This portion of the program will reinforce positive behaviours and ensure the lessons you learned throughout the program stay with you for years to come.

Financing for all or part of the program is also available through our partner, Medicard.

- You can request financing for a portion or Medicard will finance the complete cost of the program.
- Choose your ideal terms: 6 months – 6 years
Individuals may be eligible for this program if they have experienced a single or ongoing traumatic event that resulted in PTSD symptoms, including depression and anxiety, intrusive memories or thoughts of a traumatic event, flashbacks, difficulty sleeping, and irritability/changes in demeanor. Applicants should also:
- Be recovered or at a plateau in recovery from addictions issues
- Be capable of engaging in group activities
- Free from severe head or brain injuries
- Not currently use recreational cannabis
- Must be medically stable and on a consistent medication regime, if required
- No current substance abuse problems
- Not be at a significant risk for self-harm
- Obtain clearance from a medical professional
